Who are CANCER to 5K Volunteers?
*Experienced runners of all paces
*Able to run 3-4 miles
*Upbeat and enthusiastic
*Available for at least one of our two practices each week to act as a pace leader
*Available on race day to act as a Sherpa: (shûrp) n. pl. Race Day Sherpa or Race Day Sher·pas: A member of the running community and a CANCER to 5K® Volunteer who serves as the expert guide on race day for a CANCER to 5K® runner. The job of the Sherpa is to accompany his/her CANCER to 5K® runner through the entire race at the runner’s pace, to act as a kind of personal cheerleader, pace leader, guide and to keep
an eye on their well being.
While our spring season has already begun, we are currently recruiting dedicated volunteers for our fall 2012 season in all three of our locations: Washington D.C./Northern Virginia, Baltimore, and Howard County. Trainings begin in mid-July and run through mid-October. We look forward to having you as a part of our team!
