Baltimore Team

Meg Shipman

The Baltimore CT5K team is coached by Meg Shipman, Katie Peck, and Hannah Southworth.

Meg is an active member of Team Fight, and volunteered with Cancer to 5k in Howard County in 2011. She rowed Crew at the University of Delaware, and after overcoming a number of serious injuries, has made a resilient comeback into endurance athletics. She has competed in five triathlons over the past year, numerous half-marathons and ran the New York City Marathon in November 2011. Meg is a Medical Technologist, and runs a laboratory in an internal medicine practice in Annapolis MD. She is also a cycling instructor at Evolutions Body Clinic in Annapolis, MD, and has a passion for inspiring others to enjoy athletic activity and evolve their fitness!  Meg is also a cancer survivor, and is very passionate about her involvement in the Ulman Cancer Fund. She was diagnosed in January of 2010, and connected with the Ulman Cancer Fund about a year later. Cancer to 5k was her first volunteer work with UCF, and she is so grateful for all the relationships, connections and doors it has opened for her over the past year.  When Meg is not running her laboratory, or training for triathlons, she can be found in the water….her most favorite place. She is a kiteboarder and surfer with a true affinity for the ocean!

Katie Peck

Katie is an active member of Team Fight and has been an Ulman Cancer Fund volunteer for the last several years.  In 2011, Katie completed her first triathlon, 2 half marathons, as well as various shorter distance races.  Katie is excited to train for several races this year, most importantly the Half Full Triathlon in October!  Katie is an Occupational Therapist on a Spinal Cord/Multi Trauma Unit at a local acute rehab hospital in Baltimore.  She enjoys working with patients to get them back in good health!  She was recently certified in Kinesio Taping, so she can assist with helping with any aches and pains that running may bring!  When she’s not at work, Katie enjoys working out, doing anything outdoors and being with family and friends!

Hannah Southworth

Hannah is a recent graduate of Goucher College and she is very excited to begin volunteering for the Ulman Cancer Fund. She ran cross-country and track in college where she competed in long distance races. She is training for a few short distance races in Baltimore and her first half marathon in Boston this spring! She began running in high school to strengthen her body to handle some back issues and has loved racing and running for fun ever since. Hannah works at a health clinic and wellness center for the uninsured and loves helping people find ways to bring fitness and nutrition into their lives. When she is not at work she loves to run and cook. She also loves to be outside and be with family and friends!
